Infrared Beak Treatment

Infrared Beak Treatment (IRBT)

The Nova-Tech IRBT system uses a non-contact, high intensity, infrared energy source to treat beak tissue. As a result of this technology, the IRBT system is a completely bloodless procedure leaving a rounded beak and preventing damage caused by aggressive pecking behaviors. This is done through the use of a unique head holding fixture producing superior repeatability and accuracy when compared to the bio beak and hot blade systems. Each bird species has its own specific head holder design which incorporates the entire front of the bird’s cranium to become the reference point and maintain consistent, repeatable treatment over a wide range of bird sizes. The amount of infrared energy applied to the beak is fully programmable and can easily accommodate variations in bird size due to flock age and other relevant factors. The PSP is also set up so each hatchery can set the treatment level to satisfy their customer’s demands and expectations.
